Presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, the Jaguar E-Type was not only one of the most spectacular sports cars of all time, but also declared an automotive declaration of independence to the 1960s and 1970s:
The Jaguar E- Type featured an all-new, self-supporting body with vastly improved aerodynamics, excitingly styled by Jaguar chief designer Malcolm Sayers and Jaguar founder and chief executive Sir William Lyons. The chassis was also new, with independent front and rear suspension and disc brakes on all four wheels as standard. The appeal of the E-Type lay in its performance, its looks and its affordable price. The 3.8-liter inline-six (3781 cc) has an output of 269 hp (197.6 kW) at 5500 rpm and a max torque of 353 Nm at 4000 rpm. This allows the E-Type to accelerate to 100 km/h in about 7 seconds and reach a top speed of 241 km/h.
