Description

Few automobiles embody French elegance and engineering quite like the Citroën DS. The example offered here was first registered on 23 March 1968 and, prior to being acquired by its current owner, was registered in the Netherlands.

In 2016, an extensive restoration was commissioned from Dirk Sassen. Over a period of approximately two years, the DS was almost completely rebuilt from a sound base, with particular attention paid to originality and period-correct details. The car is finished in Palladium Grey with a black roof and brown “Naturel” leather interior, complemented by the classic early front end and the rare Chapron-style round instruments. During the restoration, the DS was also largely upgraded to Pallas specification.

In 2018, the current owner acquired the car from Dirk Sassen and personally drove it to Vienna. Since then, a complete driving log has been maintained. The DS has been used regularly, covering an average of approximately 1,420 kilometres per year, including two trips to France. The odometer currently reads 82,060 kilometres, although due to the car’s earlier history, this should not be regarded as its verified total mileage.

All maintenance and repair work has been documented and carried out exclusively by Citroën specialists. Several independent appraisals also document the condition of the car. In February 2018, the DS was rated 1- and given a replacement value of €53,000.

An exceptionally well-maintained and comprehensively documented Citroën DS that, since its restoration, has not simply been preserved but regularly driven and cared for with great attention.
